Hind Laroussi is niet blij dat ze het in mei moet opnemen tegen een zingende kalkoen. "Ik vind het jammer dat heel veel mensen het niet meer zo serieus nemen", vertelde ze vrijdag, nadat ze haar Songfestivalnummer 'Your heart belongs to me' aan het publiek had voorgesteld. "Ik hoop dat daar in de komende jaren enige verandering in wordt gebracht."
Vorige maand wist de handpop Dustin the Turkey in de Ierse voorverkiezing de meeste stemmen binnen te slepen. "Winnen ga ik het sowieso niet van een kalkoen", lachte Hind. "Of wel, natuurlijk, dat hangt af van de smaak van het publiek."
Met 'Your heart belongs to me' staat de 23-jarige zangeres op 20 mei in de eerste halve finale van het Eurovisie Songfestival in Belgrado. Het was vrijdag niet voor het eerst dat Hind het nummer, dat ze vijf jaar geleden schreef, ten gehore bracht. "Ik heb het sowieso in mijn theatertoer een paar keer gezongen, zonder dat mijn fans wisten dat dat het uiteindelijke nummer zou worden", zei ze. "Aan de reacties te zien was men behoorlijk positief."
Het Nederlandse publiek toonde vrijdagavond geen massale interesse voor de Nederlandse inzending. Niet meer dan 626 duizend mensen keken naar de Vara-show 'Thank God it's Friday', waarin Hind te gast was. Zelf gelooft de zangeres dat het Europese zangfestijn zijn langste tijd nog niet heeft gehad. "Ik vind dat het nog wel erg leeft onder de mensen. Ik was behoorlijk enthousiast over de reacties die ik kreeg. Dat mensen liet weten dat ze nieuwsgierig waren naar het liedje."
Haar deelname ziet de donkere schone als een gelegenheid om internationaal haar vleugels uit te slaan. "Ik zie het niet als een wedstrijd, ik zie het als een kans om mijn gezicht te laten zien in Europa. Dit is mijn visitekaartje. Ik merk nu al dat er bepaalde deuren opengaan op het gebied van mode en productie. Dat vind ik geweldig."

Heb niet zo veel van Hind Laroussi gehoord sinds dat ik geen kabel tv meer heb! 
Moet wel zeggen dat ik Hind tot nu toe de beste uit de idols reekd vind
