Sex and the City
A television series turned into a movie.
Set in New York four friends in their mid thirties living the single life.
Each one trying to find love and sex in their own way.
The series revolves around the following characters:
Carrie Bradshaw – played by Sarah Jessica Parker
Carrie is the writer of a weekly column ‘Sex and the City’ for The New York Star. She writes about the problems she and her friends are having trying to find love and sex. The colum also sets the theme for the episodes. Carrie is from episode one in love with Mr. Big with whom she has an on-again off-again relationship throughout the whole series. Carrie is the glue that keeps the four friends togother.
Samantha Jones – played by Kim Cattrall
When you talk about Samantha Jones you immediately think about sex, sex and more sex. Samantha has the most sex of all the girls in the whole series. She is a strong believer that a woman should be able to act the same way as a man and should be ably to have just as many one night stands. She is in her own words triseksual: 'I'll try anything once'.
Charlotte York – played by Kristin Davis
Charlotte is the conservative of the four. She is always positive and a strong believer of finding true love. She is looking for the picture perfect family. Despite her conservative outlook, she has been known to make concessions (while married) that even surprise her more sexually liberated girlfriends.
Miranda Hobbes – played by Cynthia Nixon
The true business woman who is focused one her career. She has an extremely cynical view on relationships and men. She is Carrie's best friend, confidante, and voice of reason. A lot changes when she gets pregnant by her on/off boyfriend, Steve Brady, whom she eventually marries.
Mr. Big – played by Chris Noth
For four seasons long we don’t know the actual name of Mr.Big. We only know the nickname Mr. Big a pseudonym for the charming, attractive, sarcastic, and wealthy love interest for Carrie Bradshaw. A self absorbed man who never seems ready to commit. During the course of the series he does marrie a girl. But an affair with Carrie destroys Big's marriage and Carrie's relationship with her other major love interest, furniture designer Aidan. In the end Mr. Big realizes that his life is nothing without Carrie and get’s her back. This time for good, or is it?
Steve Brady – played by David Eigenberg
Steve is the on/off boyfriend of Miranda and the opposite of her. He is care free, sloppy and not that ambitious. He eventually get’s a son with Miranda and even marries her. He is one of the few men on the show meant to counter-balance all the emotionally unstable men encountered throughout the series, as he is a constant and sensitive male character.
