Kate Hudson is reportedly desperate to woo back old flame Owen Wilson after splitting from boyfriend Dax Shepard.

The actress is said to have realised that she is still in love with Owen after he attempted to take his own life in August.

A source said: "It was working out between her and Dax, but it's a clean break.

"After Owen's suicide attempt, she realised how much she loved him, and broke up with Dax."

Kate and Owen began dating last year after meeting on the set of You, Me and Dupree but the couple split in June following reports they clashed over his partying lifestyle.

Ironically, it has been claimed that it was seeing pictures of of Kate and Dax making out while shopping that tipped a heartbroken Owen over the edge and led to his failed suicide bid.
