The frugal "American Idol" judge is said to be so proud of "The X Factor" winner that he is willing to shell out that much cash for her to help her on her American invasion.

The English singer, who recently broke records when she became the third female U.K. artist to reach #1 in the U.S. with a debut single, is getting a little help from the music mogul because Cowell thinks she needs a base in America to continue her winning streak.

A source tells Sunday People newspaper, "Simon thinks she is absolutely amazing so he wanted to treat her. He's so pleased with how hard she works and what a massive success she's become."

"Even though Simon is very rich, he's careful with money and doesn't like to waste it. Leona's a homely girl and isn't at all flash so Simon got the idea to buy her something practical she would use."

"He sees a bright future for her. He thinks she can become a global star like Shirley Bassey or Whitney Houston."

Meanwhile, Lewis is living her "wildest dream" when she learned of her American success.

She says, "Being number one is America is beyond my wildest dreams. I called my family to tell them and my mom burst into tears."

Source: AHN

RE: Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell gave the family of a cancer-stricken 3-year-old $162,000 to pay off their mortgage, he announced on Oprah Winfrey’s Big Give show on Monday.

The family drives more than 100 miles from their Minnesota home every day so their daughter, Madelaine, can receive treatments.

“It’s a very basic story of a normal family whose daughter got very ill, and they had some financial problems which was relatively easy for me to sort out,” Cowell explained to Extra.

On the show, he told Winfrey that he “credits her” for teaching him to be a do-gooder.

Said Cowell, “I never knew that doing good could feel so good.”

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell has urged Britney Spears to "go home to her mother".

The music mogul predicted the troubled singer's fall from grace months ago - after she shaved her head, checked in and out of rehab and became embroiled in a bitter custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline - and would have advised her to stay away from her "stupid friends" if he was her manager.

He said: "From where I sit, you could see it coming a long time ago. I said six months ago that she should go home.

"I'd have said, 'Stay with your mother, don't go out with your stupid friends, just live normally.' You'd be amazed - you live normally and suddenly everything becomes normal."

Simon, 48, also would have whisked Britney - who was hospitalised last week after refusing to hand back her children to Kevin - away from the public glare to help get her life back together.

Speaking on holiday in Barbados, he added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I would have taken her away somewhere quiet for six months. The problem with Britney is that I don't think there's anyone in her life that she listens to."

The 'X Factor' judge believes the pop star's problems need to be put into perspective when you consider the plight of others in the world.

He said: "I feel bad for Britney. But then I see the real world where people are struggling and you have to temper that with, 'Stop being stupid, go home. Life isn't that bad.'
