Michelle Williams graces the March cover of Wonderland Magazine. She did the shoot prior to the death of her former fiancé Heath Ledger. In the issue she talks about motherhood, her friendship with TomKat, and her insecurities. Here are some highlights from the interview...

On balancing motherhood with work:
“It’s not easy. Last April I was over in London doing a movie called Incendiary with Ewan McGregor. It’s about a woman grieving after losing her husband and son in a terrorist attack. It was a brutal role and arduous: six-day weeks, 14 hour-days. I was like the walking dead towards the end. Matilda would visit me everyday on-set for lunch and I’d race home to put her to bed. My only days off were Sundays and as much as I’d want to pass out, I’d try to take her out somewhere fun so she didn’t associate me with boredom. The only time that is really my own these days is after I’ve put her to bed and until I go to bed. That’s about two hours.”

On whether she attended Katie Holmes’ wedding:
“Everybody wants to know that. No, I didn’t go because I was working on The Tourist. To be honest, we’re not really in touch.”

On whether she would describe herself as vain:
“I have insecurity masquerading as vanity. I don’t think I’m vain as an actress but I’m probably more so as a person. Again, it goes back to that thing about when I’m working is the only time when I don’t judge myself. I feel totally open to exploring all the sides of my physical self in my work. While I’m working I really don’t give a fuck how I look. Afterwards, if I have to watch it, I might have some problems.”

On whether becoming a mom has changed her:
“I feel like I didn’t have any relationship with my body before Matilda. Well I did, but it was just a bad one. After having my daughter I can’t judge myself in the same way. My body has done this totally miraculous but utterly ordinary thing. The downside is that my vocabulary has shrunk to the size of a pea. Since having a kid I just don’t have the same access to the world. I don’t see as many shows, I don’t go to many movies and I hardly read any books anymore. I’m lucky to make it through a book a month. So you start to develop in a much more non-verbal way, which can be so frustrating. Also there’s been a lot going on in my personal life and part of me is… I don’t know. I shouldn’t talk about it but it’s like I’m re-emerging back into the world or something.”

Heath Ledger's hometown farewell today was a moving service attended by some of Hollywood's biggest stars.

The young actor's heartbroken former fiancee actor Michelle Williams, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, supermodel Gemma Ward and Australian actors Bryan Brown, Michael Caton, Rose Byrne, Shane "Kenny" Jacobsen and Joel Edgerton attended amid tight security in Perth today.

Directors Phillip Noyce and Neil Armfield, footballers Ben Cousins and David Wirrpanda plus band members from Eskimo Joe also attended the memorial which began with a didgeridoo performance by local musician Levi Islam.

Other celebrities joined family, school friends, athletes and politicians at a private celebration before 600 people of the life of the 28-year-old actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role as a conflicted gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain.

The 90-minute memorial service at Penrhos College came before a small private funeral for the family and a sunset wake overlooking Ledger's favourite beach.

His father Kim Ledger told reporters today the funeral would be "very, very private".

"There will only be 10 people there, immediate family and nobody else," Mr Ledger said.

"It's a pretty sad time and we're finding it difficult to cope by ourselves, let alone cope with everybody around the world.

"Having said that we do really appreciate the outpouring and the emotional support from all over the world, which, suffice to say, we're luckier than most families, most families that are in our position, our grieving position, don't have that kind of support."

Ledger's parents, sister and Williams, 27, travelled in a convoy to the memorial service at Penrhos College, a private girls' school in the south Perth suburb of Como.

Williams fell in love with Ledger in 2004 on the set of their career-changing film, Brokeback Mountain. They had a daughter, Matilda, in October 2005, but called off their engagement last September.

Matilda was not with her emotional mother today, who, clad in a cream dress, was supported by Ledger's older sister Kate into the school for the celebration of the actor's life.

The service program told mourners: "This room is filled with the love we all felt for a great friend who will be missed by all of us.

"We want to thank those of you who took care of him and participated in his beautiful life."

Barbara Scott, a WA MP, said the emotional, moving and at times funny service was a "wonderful tribute" to an outstanding actor.

Michelle Williams, released a statement yesterday through her publicist speaking out for the first time about dealing with the death of Ledger.

"Please respect our need to grieve privately. My heart is broken. I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day. His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up with the best memories of him."

HEATH Ledger's ex-fiancee Michelle Williams returned to her home in New York with the couple's child this morning.
Williams, who has rushed to New York from Sweden where she was filming, was driven home to Brooklyn in a large black SUV with two-year-old Matilda on her lap.

The SUV pulled up outside an open garage.

Williams, who was wearing dark clothing, got out of the passenger seat with Matilda and went straight into the garage without stopping to talk to the media.

Inside the house was Williams's mother Carla and Matilda's godmother, former Dawson's Creek actress Busy Phillips.

Williams, 27, who fell in love with Heath Ledger while filming Brokeback Mountain, split from him last year.

Williams was in Trollhattan, Sweden, wh ere the 27-year-old actress had been shooting scenes for the upcoming film Mammoth, said Martin Stromberg, a spokesman for film production company Memfis Film.

"She received the news at her hotel late last night," Stromberg said.

Ryan Gosling has found himself a real girl. The Canuck cutie has been spotted hanging out with recently single actress Michelle Williams in New York, prompting rumours of a new romance.

The pair, who co-starred in 2003's The United States of Leland, was spotted walking along Bleecker Street in New York's Greenwich Village on Tuesday (Dec. 11) night, even pausing to take photos with fans, reports People magazine.

The couple was also seen dining at Piadina, where a witness tells the New York Post that Gosling was "smiling and gazing at her."
