Kate Beckinsale isn't bothered she can't cook - because she makes up for it in the bedroom.

The Pearl Harbour star admits she is a terrible wife because she cannot cook a decent meal for her husband Len Wiseman.

But she insists she makes up for it in other areas.

She tells British magazine Glamour, "I'm the worst wife in the cooking department. I always thought you can't be good at food and sex, but you can always order the food in.

"I'd rather he didn't order in the sex."

Kate Beckinsale caused controversy when she appeared on a US TV show without underwear.

The 'Underworld' actress was a guest on hit series 'Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson' to talk about her new film 'Snow Angels' when she made the shocking revelation.

As she walked onto the stage wearing tight black trousers and a grey top, her microphone pack fell out, and she told Craig: "I can't believe that's fallen out. They wanted to hook it onto the back of my knickers, but I am going commando, so they couldn't do it! So there was nothing to hook them on so it fell out."

Kate's commando stunt is the latest in a series of sexual jokes the 34-year-old beauty has recently made.

The 'Pearl Harbor' actress - who is regularly voted one of the most beautiful women in the world - claims she was unattractive in her teenage years and hasn't managed to shed her insecurities.

She said: "I was monumentally ugly until I was about 15 so I still have that mindset."

This is not the first time Kate has spoken out about her looks.

The 'Underworld' star - who is married to director Len Wiseman - says she was so concerned about her attractiveness while growing up, she convinced herself no boy would ever be interested in her.

She added: "I grew up feeling and looking like an ugly duckling and that was such a huge part of my self-image. I could not even accept boys paying me attention."

Even though, Kate - who has a nine-year-old daughter, Lily, from a previous relationship - has blossomed into a beautiful woman, she sometimes feels so unattractive she won't leave the house.

She said: "I have days when I feel great, and days when my a** won't fit in my jeans and I don't leave the house."

On her job:
"Acting requires so much delving into yourself and exposing yourself, so it's sensible to be wondering, Do I still want to be doing this? But I enjoy the work, and everything is so solid at home. I don't care if they say I've had buttock implants. Or not. I don't care. Go ahead! That's the nice thing about getting to the age I am. I could have said I didn't care before—but secretly I did. On considering quitting acting to become a doctor:

Kate Beckinsale has revealed that her pet cat caught fire from a candle at her home as she was getting ready for the Screen Actors Guild Awards last weekend.

The actress said that the cat was now fine but explained that she had got a fright when she saw that he had caught fire.

Beckinsale said: "Our cat, Clive, caught fire on a candle. As I was getting ready, there was a 'whoosh', like a fireball, and he went up like a rocket."

She continued: "He's fine. He had no idea what had happened to him."
